Scholarships, Tests, Connections, Oh My!

Roycemore has a growing network of alumni who have volunteered to talk with college-bound students about their own college experiences. Among them are alumni from:

The Claremont Colleges (e.g. Pitzer, Harvey Mudd, Claremont McKenna), Coe College, Connecticut College, DePaul University, Knox College, New York University/Tisch School of Arts, Northwestern University, Southern Illinois University, University of Illinois, University of Illinois at Chicago, and others.

I mention these particular schools because I know we have seniors now applying to these very schools. If you are interested in connecting with these incredible “insiders,” please ask Ms. Campbell for contact information.

SCHOLARSHIPS!
When you apply to schools through the Common App, you often just need to click a box to be considered for those schools’ merit scholarships. But what about the thousands of other academic scholarships out there? The 10 best sites to search for scholarships is a good place to start.


Upcoming ACT and SAT Registration Deadlines

ACT:
December 10. LATE registration (with additional fee) is still open until THIS Friday, November 18.
February 11. Regular registration is open through January 13.

SAT:
December 3. LATE registration (with additional fee) is still open until Tuesday, November 22.
January 21. Regular registration is open through December 21.

Seniors: the December tests are, for most colleges, the last ones you can take for Regular Decision deadlines.

Juniors: Did you know Ms. Campbell has FREE sample ACT and SAT tests available? Come by to get copies.

Fee Waivers for Standardized Tests
If you receive financial aid to attend Roycemore, you may also be qualified to receive a registration fee waiver from the College Board or ACT for your standardized tests. Please come see Ms. Campbell to learn more.

A friendly reminder to SENIORS applying Regular Decision
Be sure to remember to request the ACT or College Board to send your official scores to each of the universities or colleges to which you are applying. Because these are standardized tests administered by a third party, Roycemore cannot send official scores for you.
